Now a video of him challenging the authorities has gone viral in which he questions the late night raids on his house in Rae Bareli and Amethi and says that my mother has given birth to a lion and not a jackal… I will not be suppressed like this. Am I a terrorist?
Sunil Shukla addresses the Chief Minister with sharp questions. He asks why the police was sent to his house at midnight. He raised the question whether he is a terrorist, Naxalite, murderer or involved in any serious crime? Sunil Shukla claims that 6 to 7 policemen reached his house at around 1 o’clock in the night. At that time his elderly mother and sister were present in the house. He alleged that pressure was being put on his family to break him mentally. In the video, while referring to his mother’s illness, he says that his father has already passed away and the family is already in grief. In such a situation, an attempt was made to scare the family by raiding in the middle of the night. He says that they can be physically abused, but they cannot be broken mentally.

He claimed that every month money is collected from constables and diwans in the name of duty in the reserve police line. According to the allegations, this amount is collected through the guard commander and then sent to the top. Sunil Shukla also explained the entire alleged process in the video. According to him, the reserve inspector appoints the enumeration in-charge and he further decides the guard commander. It is alleged that two thousand rupees each are taken every month in lieu of duty and posting. He claimed that this recovery is being done from about 400 policemen, due to which about Rs 8 lakh is collected every month. In the video, he also mentioned an alleged data system named “Chhadna D”, through which it was claimed that the duty and guard system was operated. However, the allegations made in the video have not been confirmed yet.

Sunil Shukla also gets emotional at times during the video. He says that he is a person who believes in Bhagat Singh and will not stop raising his voice against injustice. He clearly said that if their voice has to be silenced then either they will have to be eliminated or the police department will have to be reformed. He says that he has no personal enmity towards the officers, but it is necessary to speak against the irregularities and corruption prevalent in the department. He demanded from the Chief Minister that reforms should be initiated in the police department in the same manner as was done in some other departments.

This is not the first time Uttar Pradesh Police Voice has been raised within regarding corruption or pressure. Even before this, in many cases, policemen have raised questions regarding duty pressure, long working hours, lack of holidays and behavior of officers. However, claims of improvements have also been made from time to time by the department. Many steps have been taken towards police modernization, digital monitoring and increasing transparency. But the viral video has once again sparked a debate on the condition of policemen working at the lower level.
