Business magazine Forbes has released the list of the world’s richest people from a new perspective. While recalculating the wealth of billionaires, donations made by them have also been added to it.
An attempt has been made to know that if the world’s most generous billionaires had never donated, what would have been their wealth and ranking today? To get the answer, Forbes prepared the ‘True Net Worth’ ranking.
It was assumed that the shares donated by the billionaires would remain with them and the cash donations would also be invested as per the market rates.
New list: Jeff Bezos’s ex-wife McKinzie Scott would have been at 26th place.
Elon Musk is at first place in both the Forbes lists. However, he has actually donated only a very small portion of his wealth, about 0.06%. Bill Gates has donated about 731 million shares of Microsoft.
If he had kept these shares, his wealth would have been almost 4 times higher and he would have been the second richest person instead of the 19th. Similarly, Warren Buffet would also move from 9th position to 3rd position.
The value of the shares he donated has increased by nearly 700% since 2006. McKinsey Scott would have climbed 58 places to number 26. Her ex-husband Jeff Bezos would have dropped out of the top 5.
