The effect of heat wave is increasing in many parts of the country. The mercury has crossed 44°C in 4 cities of UP, Rajasthan and Maharashtra. On Thursday, the highest temperature was recorded at 44.5°C in Sriganganagar, Rajasthan. 44.4°C was recorded in Prayagraj in UP and Amravati in Maharashtra, while 44.3°C was recorded in Akola. Due to the increasing heat, the timing of schools in Jaipur, Kota, Chittorgarh, Jaisalmer and Dausa of Rajasthan has been changed from 7.30 am. Timings of Mahatma Gandhi NREGA Scheme (MNREGA) have also been changed in Bikaner, Jhunjhunu and Jaisalmer. Now workers will work only from 6 am to 1 pm. Here, the effect of heat wave continued in Odisha also on Thursday. Jharsuguda and Talcher recorded a maximum temperature of 44°C. The temperature was 40°C or more at 24 places in the state. School and college holidays in Cuttack have been extended till April 27. Whereas schools in Rayagada, Jharsuguda and Ganjam districts will remain closed till April 26.
