New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon today visited Gurdwara Guru Nanak Sikh Sangat Sahib located in the Otahuhu area of Auckland. On this occasion, he had a special meeting with the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gadgaj. Both discussed in detail the strengthening of mutual brotherhood, cooperation and social unity among the Sikh and other communities settled in New Zealand. Prime Minister Laxon appreciated the contribution of the Sikh community to the development of New Zealand. He said that the Sikh community has not only played an important role in the economic and social fields but has also carried forward the values of service and humanity. Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gadgaj expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for the honor and recognition given to the Sikh community by the New Zealand government. During this meeting, the Jathedar also invited the Prime Minister to visit the Golden Temple, which he accepted. Gifts were also exchanged between the two, with the Jathedar being presented with a watch and the Prime Minister presented with a commemorative model. Jathedar’s visit will strengthen cultural and social ties On this occasion, many dignitaries including Takanini MP Reema Nakhle, Central Sikh Association President Daljit Singh, Supreme Sikh Society of New Zealand spokesperson, Youth Akali Dal President Sarabjit Singh Jhinjar and Media Advisor Jaskaran Singh were present. This meeting is being considered an important step towards further strengthening the cultural and social relations between the two countries and communities.
