India international and FC Goa defender Sandesh Jhingan has thrown his weight behind the next generation of Indian footballers, praising their awareness and professionalism during the ongoing Reliance Foundation Development League (RFDL) 2025-26 National Championship at Bambolim Athletic Stadium in Goa.
Highlighting the growing impact of structured youth competitions, Jhingan termed the RFDL a ‘crucial platform’ in India’s football development ecosystem, enabling young players to transition smoothly into the professional setup.
“Football has changed a lot; young players these days are smart and level-headed. They know exactly what to focus on — training, nutrition, and more. They learn best by observing senior players on the field.”
“RFDL is giving the youngsters, who usually miss on playing time with the senior team, a platform and valuable minutes. Leagues like this will contribute in making India a footballing giant.”
