Chhattisgarh Summer Vacation: Temperatures across several districts of Chhattisgarh have crossed 40 degrees Celsius, raising concerns as the India Meteorological Department issued a heatwave alert. The intense weather conditions have directly impacted daily life, including school schedules across the state.

Amid the worsening Chhattisgarh heatwave, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced an extension of the Chhattisgarh vacation for schools, prioritising children’s safety during extreme heat conditions.

In a post on X, the Chief Minister said that due to rising temperatures and frequent heatwave conditions, ensuring children’s health is of utmost importance. As part of this decision, the Chhattisgarh summer vacation has been extended from April 20 to June 15.

“Given the increasing heat and heatwaves in the state, taking care of children’s health is paramount. Keeping this in mind, our government has extended the school summer holidays from the previously scheduled date, from April 20th to June 15th, to ensure children’s health during this intense heat,” he said.

Chhattisgarh Heatwave Alert and IMD Forecast

According to the IMD, heatwave conditions in Chhattisgarh are expected to affect isolated regions between April 17 and April 20. The weather department has warned of a sharp rise in temperatures during this period.

The forecast suggests that several areas may record temperatures above 5.1°C higher than normal, indicating a severe heat spell. The IMD heatwave alert underscores the need for precaution, especially for school-going children, making the Chhattisgarh vacation extension a timely decision.
