The supply of LPG cylinders in the country is completely stable and sufficient. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) has assured citizens that there is no need to panic or do panic buying.

The ministry has clarified that the existing distribution network is very strong and gas is being delivered to homes across the country without any interruption. The government is also continuously monitoring it.

Big jump in digital booking: 95% customers are online

The ministry said that about 95% of the consumers in the country are now using digital platforms for booking LPG cylinders. This includes easy methods like IVRS, SMS, WhatsApp and mobile apps. Due to this, the crowd at gas agencies has reduced and the service has also increased.

Appeal to avoid panic buying

The government has appealed to consumers to use gas responsibly and not to stock excessively. According to the ministry, people should not do panic buying (buying more than necessary), because the gas reserves in the country are sufficient. Continuing to use digital channels will further improve the delivery system.

5KG cylinder will be available without address proof

Earlier, the Central Government has simplified the rules for the sale of 5Kg LPG cylinders. Now any person will be able to buy a small gas cylinder without any address proof. There will be no need to deposit any security amount to buy it.

According to the Petroleum Ministry, this step has been taken for migrant laborers and those who do not have a permanent address in the city. Now customers will just have to go to the authorized distributor and show any one of their photo ID and they will be able to get the cylinder immediately.

The ministry has clarified that now many documents are not required for a 5 kg cylinder. Customers can get the cylinder by showing documents like Aadhar Card, PAN Card and Voter ID. You can get it refilled as many times as you want in a year.
