A speeding truck hit a tempo from behind on Wednesday evening on the Nagpur-Mumbai Expressway in Jalna district of Maharashtra. 8 women died in the accident, while 3 people were injured. The injured are undergoing treatment in the hospital. All the victims are labourers. The accident happened near Kadvanchi village when the women laborers were returning home in a tempo after finishing cleaning work on the expressway. The tempo was about to start when a truck going towards Mumbai hit it hard from behind. The tempo was badly damaged in the collision and the bodies were scattered on the road. A total of 11 people were traveling in the tempo, out of which 7 women died on the spot, while one died in the hospital. 2 pictures of the accident… One deceased has not been identified yet. The deceased have been identified as Alkabai Adamne (45), Lakshmibai Madan (35), Meena Adamne (45), Kanchan Adamne (50), Tarabai Chaudhary (60), Kadubai Madan (55) and Suman Adamne (70). One deceased has not been identified yet. Police have arrested the truck driver and registered a case under sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS). Maharashtra Environment Minister Pankaja Munde expressed deep grief over the incident and assured financial assistance to the families of the deceased and the injured. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the death of eight people is extremely unfortunate. He has announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the deceased.
