Auto Sales For March 2026: Automobile companies reported healthy sales growth in March 2026, with demand remaining firm across passenger vehicles, two-wheelers and commercial vehicles. The momentum was visible across both monthly and full-year numbers, reflecting improving market sentiment and steady demand.

Passenger vehicles drive growth

Maruti Suzuki India, the country’s largest carmaker, reported a 16.72% rise in total sales at 2,25,251 units in March. Domestic passenger vehicle sales grew 10.27% to 1,66,219 units.

Utility vehicles and compact cars remained key growth drivers, while mini car sales stayed largely flat.

Tata Motors reported strong traction in passenger vehicles, with sales rising 29% to 66,971 units. Electric vehicle sales jumped sharply by 77% to 9,494 units, indicating continued demand in the EV segment.

Mahindra & Mahindra posted a 21% increase in total sales at 99,969 units, driven by a 25% jump in SUV sales in the domestic market.

Kia India recorded a 14.5% rise in sales at 29,112 units, marking its best-ever March performance.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor saw sales grow 24% to 37,194 units, with both domestic and export segments contributing equally.

Two-wheelers continue strong momentum

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India reported a 29% increase in total sales at 5,49,145 units in March, led by robust domestic demand. For FY26, the company posted a 9% growth, supported by steady performance in both domestic and export markets.

Commercial vehicles see steady growth

In the commercial vehicle segment, Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles reported a 17% rise in sales at 47,976 units, with domestic volumes growing 18%.

Ashok Leyland posted a modest 5% increase in total sales at 25,381 units. Growth was led by light commercial vehicles, while medium and heavy vehicle sales remained largely stable.

Other players show mixed but positive trends

Renault India reported a sharp 77% jump in March wholesales at 5,046 units, supported by strong demand for models like Kiger and Triber.

Escorts Kubota Ltd saw tractor sales rise 6.6% to 12,119 units, aided by rural demand and harvesting activity, although exports declined.

Skoda Auto India reported a 17% increase in quarterly sales at 20,028 units, driven by an expanded product portfolio and stronger market reach.

FY26: Broad-based growth across segments

On a full-year basis, most automakers reported steady expansion.

Maruti Suzuki’s total sales rose to 24.22 lakh units, while Toyota reported a 20% increase to over 4 lakh units. Tata Motors’ passenger vehicle sales grew 15% for the year, and its commercial vehicle business rose 14%.

Mahindra & Mahindra continued its strong SUV-led growth, while Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India crossed 63 lakh units in FY26 sales.
