War brings death, not freedom: Iranian activist Nasrin Parvaz slams West Asia war

Iranian dissident and anti-war activist Nasrin Parvaz, who spent years in Iranian jails and was tortured by the Ayatollah Khomeini regime in the 1980s, speaks out against the ongoing war in Iran despite her opposition to the regime. In an interview with India Today, Parvaz states that ‘war and bombs don’t bring freedom. War brings death and destruction.’ She highlights the humanitarian crisis, noting that nearly 1,937 people have reportedly been killed and over 24,800 injured. ParvazĀ  criticises both Israel and America’s claims of waging a ‘just war’ to liberate Iranians, calling it ‘a joke’ and stating that the war is ‘ruining’ people by destroying homes, factories, and livelihoods. She argues that the majority of Iranians are both anti-war and anti-regime but lack a voice. Parvaz believes the solution lies in the hands of the Iranian people, criticising Western governments for previously supporting the regime during uprisings such as the Women, Life, Freedom movement.
