Famous Bollywood singer Faheem Abdullah reached Raipur on Sunday, where he won the hearts of the audience by giving a spectacular performance in the organized live concert at SSIPMT Muzgahan. He enthralled the youth by singing his superhit songs Ishq, Jhelum and Sayara one after the other.

Question: How was your singing journey from childhood till now?
answer: There was no one from musical background in the house. I was the only one interested in music. I have lived the life of a normal Kashmiri boy. My family is a middle class family of Kashmir, my interest in singing since childhood, later became passion.
Question: Started with your Jhelum, then sang Ishq and now the song Sayara has become a superhit? How satisfied are you with your career?
answer: My journey was very beautiful. I always tried to sing those songs which I liked and which came from the heart. It is said that when something comes from the heart, it reaches the heart only. This has been a special thing about my entire journey, which I would like to keep with me in future too.
Question: The songs we listen to are prepared in the studio and reach us with complete filters. What are the challenges while recording songs?
answer: I think there is no challenge in recording a song in a studio as compared to a live concert. It is just like acting in films and theatre. When we record in the studio, we can take many takes, but in a concert we have to give our best.
As far as autotune is concerned, everyone uses it, but in live concerts we do real singing and people connect with us.

Question: Many people in Young Generation cried after listening to the song Saiyara, what were your emotions like while you were recording the song?
answer: I also became very emotional during the recording of this song, and the same feeling is reflected in the song. Maybe that’s why people liked it. Its composition, music and lyrics were all created with a lot of love and hard work. When people heard this song, they also felt that emotion and love.
Question: You have also composed some music with AR Rahman, what did you learn from him?
answer- Working with Rahman sir is a different experience. They do not let you feel any kind of pressure, due to which you are able to work completely free. If they like any of your delivery, they ask you to repeat it.
Then we try to make some further improvements and make a better track. During this time you feel very comfortable and mixed with them. I have listened to his music since childhood, so I didn’t feel like I was working with him for the first time.
During the live concert, Faheem called a young man on the stage for singing. The young man also repeated some lines of the song with Faheem.
Question: What preparations do you make before performing any concert?
answer: Everyone has their own different method. I like to stay hydrated. I start drinking more water a day or two before the concert. A little practice is also done before the concert so that one can know whether you are making the right sound or not.
Question: Nowadays Artificial Intelligence (AI) is copying people’s voices. How do you see this for the future of singing?
answer: AI can copy your textures, it can’t copy your rendering, nor can it copy your projection. At best, AI can copy your style, such as picking up the way you sing most of the time.
But apart from this, it will not be able to capture the emotion and depth that is there. For example, I can decide whether I will sing one line of a song softly and another line hard. AI Can’t Do Dis.

Question: What do you do in your free time? What is your hobby?
answer: I like riding a bike, I also used to do a lot of painting, but due to busyness, I am not able to devote time to it now. I also love gardening, but this is what I still do whenever I am free.
Question: It is heard that you left your engineering job and took up singing, what is this whole story?
answer: Some things have got mixed up wrongly on the internet. This is the story of my friend Aslan. He left his engineering job and came to Mumbai with me. During that time I was also pursuing my Masters. Later I also completed my Masters.

Question: Sometimes in the world of singing, competition becomes very personal. This has been seen many times in Bollywood also. how do you feel about this?
answer: I don’t believe in competition. Nothing else is possible in the world of art, because there is no measurement to measure and weigh. There is a jury of three people, what is the mood of someone singing in front of them?
No one’s emotions can be determined by this. Everyone tries to keep their emotions in a good manner. This is most important for music.
Question: Arijit Singh has decided not to do background singing. You have a long journey ahead of you and many opportunities. How do you see it?
answer: I don’t think of it that way at all. The benchmark set by Arijit sir is huge. It will take two-two and a half years to reach them. Currently, all the playback singers in Bollywood are doing amazing work, Zubin is there, Vishal Bhai is there.
It doesn’t matter who is above, who is below. What matters is how much fillings you are feeling from people.
Question: Any tips for those who see their career in singing?
answer: It is very difficult to make a career in singing. This is an unconventional field. Parents in India generally want their children to choose traditional careers, but a child who has dedication and passion should keep trying. Also, it is important to be prepared for fall back.
