Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has warned that Tehran will not initiate attacks but will respond forcefully if its infrastructure or economic centres are targeted, as tensions in West Asia continue to escalate.
In a post on X, Pezeshkian said, “We have said many times that Iran doesn’t carry out preemptive attacks, but we will retaliate strongly if our infrastructure or economic centers are targeted.”
We have said many times that Iran doesn’t carry out preemptive attacks, but we will retaliate strongly if our infrastructure or economic centers are targeted. To the countries of the region:If you want development and security, don’t let our enemies run the war from your lands.— Masoud Pezeshkian (@drpezeshkian) March 28, 2026
The statement comes amid growing fears of a wider regional conflict following sustained strikes involving the United States and Israel. Iranian leaders have repeatedly warned that attacks on critical facilities could trigger broader retaliation across the region, potentially impacting energy and economic infrastructure.
Warning to Regional Countries
Pezeshkian also issued a direct message to neighbouring countries in West Asia, cautioning them against allowing their territory to be used for military operations against Iran.
“If you want development and security, don’t let our enemies run the war from your lands,” he said.
The remarks reflect Iran’s long-standing position that while it seeks stable relations with regional neighbours, it will respond to attacks launched from foreign bases or allied territories.
IRGC Claims Strike on US Vessels in Kuwait
In its latest statement, the IRGC said it had carried out the 84th wave of Operation True Promise 4, claiming that its naval units struck six US landing craft utilities at Shuwaikh Port in Kuwait and inflicted heavy casualties on American forces.
The Guards said the attack was conducted using domestically developed missiles, including Qadr-380 cruise missiles with a claimed range of 1,000 kilometres.
According to the IRGC, three of the vessels sank after the strike while the remaining craft were left burning.
It also claimed that a number of refuelling vehicles and elements of the US military’s logistical support fleet were destroyed at Al-Kharj base.
Iran also struck an airport in Kuwait, destroying its radar systems.
Claim of Drone Strike in Dubai
In a further escalation, the IRGC also alleged that kamikaze drones were used to target what it described as US drone personnel gathering centres along the coast and one of the hotels in Dubai.
These claims have not been independently verified, and there has been no immediate confirmation from US, Kuwaiti, or Emirati authorities regarding the alleged attacks or casualties.
