Actor-director Deepak Tijori raised questions on the functioning of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on the censorship of the film Dhurandhar 2.
In an Instagram post on Thursday, Deepak Tijori wrote that he is unable to understand the thinking of CBFC. He said that some abuses in the film are half muted, while some are completely left out. According to him, different treatment with similar dialogues is beyond comprehension.
Tijori asked what is the point of half censorship after getting 18+ certificate, when the film is only for adults. He said, “Whose safety is being protected by half the words?”

In his post he also raised questions on OTT release. He said that the same film later comes on OTT without cut or mute, where children can also watch it. In such a situation, the logic of theater censorship comes into question.
Finally, Tijori wrote that he wanted to understand what it means for a film meant for adults to be half muted in the theater, when the same content is heard in full in homes. He indicated that perhaps we are thinking too much about the wrong things.
Deepak Tijori has worked in films like ‘Aashiqui’, ‘Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahi’, ‘Sadak’, ‘Khiladi’ and ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’.
The censor board had suggested 21 changes for the film.
According to ‘Variety India’, Dhurandhar 2 had to go through several cuts by the censor board before its release. A total of 21 changes were suggested, in which violent scenes such as eye gouging, beheading and intense attack scenes were reduced.
Apart from this, micro-changes were also made, like correcting the date of demonetization in the subtitle and writing ‘Delhi’ instead of ‘Lahore’ at one place. The film has received an ‘A’ certificate in India and its duration is approximately 3 hours 49 minutes. After cuts, the Indian version became approximately 6 minutes shorter than the overseas version.
