BCCI has issued new guidelines for IPL 2026. Under this, no team will be able to practice on the match day. Also, there will be no fitness test for the players on match-day. At the same time, information will have to be given 24 hours before changing the jersey number and only the staff will get entry in the dressing room. IPL will start from March 28. The first match will be played between defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. BCCI has released the schedule of the first phase of IPL 2026 on March 11. They will not be able to use the nets of the opposing team. Separate arrangements have been made for the teams at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. Here both the teams will get separate wickets for practice and no team will be able to use the wicket of the opposing team. Main rules related to practice: Each team will be given two nets in the practice area and one side wicket on the main square. If both the teams practice together in Mumbai, they will be given two wickets each. Open net will not be allowed, so that the practice remains organized. Also, if a team ends its practice early, the other team will not be able to use its wicket. The most important rule is that any kind of practice will be completely prohibited on the match day. There will be no fitness test on the day of the match. No fitness test of any kind will be conducted on the main square on the day of the match. Players will have to come for practice by team bus, although if needed, they can be brought in two batches. Players’ families and friends will come in separate vehicles and will be able to watch practice only from the hospitality area. Only authorized staff will be allowed to enter the dressing room and the field, so that security and discipline is maintained. Staff will have to carry the Accreditation Card. It will be mandatory for all authorized staff to carry the Accreditation Card on the day of the match, otherwise a fine will be imposed. Players have been advised to avoid sitting or hitting the ball near the LED board. Under broadcast rules, it will be mandatory to wear orange and purple caps in the initial overs. Additionally, wearing sleeveless jerseys or flops will not be allowed during the post-match presentation. Only 12 support staff (which includes doctors) will be allowed to be with the team on the match day. Teams will have to inform about any change in the jersey number of their players at least 24 hours in advance.
