Recently, a concerning case has emerged from Maharashtra’s Satara district, causing worry among students and parents. A sixth-grade girl has allegedly been tasked with checking Class 10 board exam papers, raising serious concerns about the evaluation process of the state board exams, reported Navbharat Times.
This incident reportedly occurred in the Phaltan tehsil of Satara district, where a teacher at Uttareshwar High School in Vidani has been accused of using sixth-grade female students to check Class 10 exam papers. Rajesh Kshirsagar, chairman of the Kolhapur divisional SSC board, confirmed the incident.
Chairman Rajesh Kshirsagar stated that a high school teacher had been accused of having younger students check the 10th-grade Marathi papers. An initial investigation confirmed the allegations, and the board received CCTV footage demonstrating the teacher’s negligence. The teacher in question, Vaibhav Shende, is seen in the footage sitting with female students and checking answer sheets, the report stated.
Following this incident, there are demands for appropriate action against the teacher. The departmental board has taken note of the matter and will take appropriate action soon. However, no official statement has been issued by the school administration yet.
Before the exams began, the board had requested all schools to provide complete details of CCTV cameras installed at examination centres. This would enable live monitoring during the exams and allow for prompt action in case of any cheating or irregularities. Schools were instructed to provide the board with their CCTV connection login ID, admin ID, and password by filling out a Google form.
The Maharashtra Board 12th grade exams commenced on February 10, and the 10th grade board exams began on February 20. The board exams for both classes will conclude on March 18, 2026. As every year, approximately 3 million students are appearing for the Maharashtra Board exams.
