India Post GDS Result 2026: The merit list for the 2026 recruitment of Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) by India Post is about to be released. The merit list will cover 28,636 positions. This recruitment drive was extensive across the country, requiring only a 10th-grade pass, which led to a huge number of applications. The selection is entirely merit-based, relying solely on 10th-grade marks without any examination.
Where And How To Check Merit List?
— Once the list is released, you can check it on the official website, indiapost.gov.in.
— Start by visiting the homepage and clicking on the Candidate Corner section.
— Then click on the List of Shortlisted Candidates. Select your state or circle, such as Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, etc.
— A PDF file will open. Download the PDF and search for your name or registration number by pressing Ctrl + F.
— The PDF will list your name, registration number, marks, post name, division, office, and the location for document verification.
— Save the file as it will be useful in the future.
Note that only one registration per candidate will be considered valid; if multiple forms are submitted, only one will be counted.
Category-Wise Expected Cut-Off
The final cut-off will depend on the state, category, and number of applicants, but based on past trends, it may range as follows:
General (Unreserved): 85% to 95%
OBC: 80% to 90%
SC: 80% to 88%
ST: 79% to 85%
EWS: 75% to 83%
PwBD (Divyang): 65% to 80%
Higher marks in class 10 increase the chances of selection. In case of a tie, the decision will be based on age and other criteria.
What’s Next?
After a candidate makes it to the merit list, they must complete document verification within 15 days. Required documents include the 10th marksheet, ID proof (Aadhaar/Voter ID), caste certificate (if SC/ST/OBC/EWS), residence certificate, photograph, etc. Following document verification, there will be a medical test. Those who clear all the rounds will receive the final appointment letter.
This year, a large number of applications were received for the recruitment process, which was conducted at approximately 15,000 centres across the country. Due to the many vacancies and the straightforward eligibility criteria of passing the 10th standard, lakhs of young people applied for the GDS posts.
