While congratulating India on Republic Day, the Chinese President said that India and China should become good neighbours, friends and partners.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a congratulatory message to President Draupadi Murmu on the occasion of Indian Republic Day. Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong gave this information on social media platform X.
Ambassador Xu Feihong said that President Xi Jinping has said in his message that it would be the right decision for India and China to become good neighbours, friends and partners, help each other succeed and dragon and elephant dance together.
This message has come at a time when normalcy seems to be returning in the relations between India and China. Direct flights between the two countries were resumed in October last year. This was agreed upon during the visit of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to India in August 2025.
Elephant is a symbol of strength and dragon is a symbol of good luck and prosperity.
According to media reports, in India the elephant is considered a symbol of strength, wisdom and goodness. Elephant is also associated with Lord Ganesha, the god of wisdom and prosperity. Just like an elephant moves slowly but is very powerful and walks strongly, similarly India is gradually increasing its strength in the world.
At the same time, according to China Daily, in China the dragon is considered a symbol of strength, good fortune and power. The dragon is a powerful creature in Chinese stories, bringing rain and prosperity. The dragon is a big part of China’s culture and identity.

In India the elephant symbolizes strength, wisdom and goodness, while in China the dragon symbolizes strength, good fortune and power.

‘Republic Day of India’ declared in American Dakota state
America’s South Dakota State Governor Larry Rhoden greeted India on the occasion of its 77th Republic Day. He said that he is confident that the relations between India and America will become stronger in the coming times.
Governor Roden has declared 26 January 2026 as ‘Republic Day of India’ in his state. He gave this message through a video message to the Indian Consulate in Seattle.
In the video, Governor Roden said that last year he met India’s Consul General Prakash Gupta twice and both the meetings were very good and positive. He said that he is confident that India and America together will build stronger relations in future.
Apart from South Dakota, the Governors of Washington and Alaska states of America have also declared 26 January 2026 as ‘Republic Day of India’.
US Secretary of State also congratulated India
On this occasion, Washington State Governor Bob Ferguson appealed to the people to recognize the achievements of the Indian and Indian-American community and to honor the friendship between India and Washington. Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy also asked people to recognize the contribution of the Indian community and the relationship between Alaska and India.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also wished India on its 77th Republic Day. He said that India and America have a long and strong relationship and both the countries are working together in areas like defence, energy, essential minerals and new technologies.
Marco Rubio said that dialogue and cooperation is taking place at many levels between India and America through forums like Quad. He said that India-US relations have benefited both countries and the Indo-Pacific region and he is excited to work together on common goals in the future.
India celebrated 77th Republic Day today
The country is celebrating 77th Republic Day today. The main parade took place on the duty path in Delhi. President Draupadi Murmu hoisted the tricolor. After the national anthem, a 21-gun salute was given. After this, Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla was awarded Ashok Chakra.
The ceremony featured for the first time two chief guests, President of the European Council Antonio Costa and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. The 90-minute parade featured 30 tableaux from different states and ministries.
All three armies showed their strength in the parade. 29 aircraft including Rafale, Jaguar, MiG 29, Sukhoi of the Air Force participated. He made Sindoor, Vajrang, Arjan and Prahar formations.
The armies displayed missiles, battle aircraft, new battalions and lethal weapon systems used during Operation Sindoor. These included BrahMos and Akash weapon systems, rocket launcher Surakshatra, main battle tank Arjun and a series of indigenous military platforms and hardware.
PM Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Vice President CP Radhakrishnan, Home Minister Amit Shah and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi were also present. Read the full news…
