This decision is also important because Fairford Air Base is an old center of military cooperation between America and Britain. It was built in 1944 during the Second World War. The British airbase is not an isolated case. Iran has repeatedly launched drone and missile attacks on US military bases in the Middle East. After these attacks, America removed many of its troops from countries like Bahrain, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates and Qatar. All these locations were within reach of Iran’s missiles and drones. American bases in Kuwait suffered significant damage. Six American soldiers were killed in the attack on Port Shuaiba. An operation center of the US Army was also destroyed in the Iranian attack. American soldiers had to stay in hotels and offices. The impact of the Iranian attacks was so great that many American soldiers had to leave their military bases and go to hotels and offices. From here a new problem arose before America. Iran started finding out where American soldiers were staying. Some soldiers were also staying in hotels where there was very little security. After this Iran started targeting these places also. A CIA base in Saudi Arabia was also damaged. Many of the 13 major military bases used by America in the Middle East became unfit for living and working after the attacks. Inside the Pentagon, instead of re-building some bases, there is a consideration of moving them further away. Drone attack changed America’s thinking. America has understood a new thing from this war. Earlier it was believed that if American soldiers and aircraft were kept out of the reach of enemy missiles, they would be safe. But drones have changed this thinking. Drones are small, easy to hide and can be used to attack from very far away. According to US officials, Ukraine adopted a similar strategy against Russia last year. He hid the drones in trucks and transported them deep into Russia and from there flew them and attacked military planes. Now America fears that similar tactics can be used against its military bases also. The Iranian army weakened, but it stopped America. Trump says that in the initial attacks, Iran’s entire navy was destroyed and its air force is also not in a condition to work. Nevertheless, Iran has forced the American army to retreat at many places. This is the biggest irony of this war. Iran’s army has suffered heavy losses, but it is not allowing American troops to stay at bases close to Iran. American soldiers now have to stay away more than before. America has long justified its military presence in the Middle East by arguing that it protects the world’s vital sea routes. But now America is not able to fully guarantee the safe movement of ships in the Strait of Hormuz and some parts of the Red Sea. America may have to move its troops even further away. The Pentagon is now considering building new military bases in Israel and Jordan. But this is not an easy task. Money will have to be taken from the US Congress for new bases. After this, construction and preparation may take several years. Meanwhile, America will have to keep its existing troops and weapons at other safe locations. This is the reason why America is now thinking of planning a big new military base inside its own country. Defense Minister Pete Hegseth, while talking to American soldiers recently, talked about building a new big base inside America instead of the damaged bases in the Middle East. The biggest question: Does America maintain the same dominance as before? America now faces three big problems. For America this is not just a military problem. This may also have political implications. Iran is considered weak, yet due to its attacks America has to withdraw its troops and aircraft repeatedly. This can give a message to other countries that instead of directly confronting the American army, it can be forced to retreat by targeting its military bases.
