Snowfall continues in the Himalayan areas of North India. Light snowfall continued in Jammu and Kashmir. After improvement in the weather, Srinagar-Jammu National Highway opened after two days. Severe cold continues in Kashmir valley. The temperature was recorded at minus 10.2 degrees in Gulmarg and minus 1.6 degrees in Srinagar. The work of rescuing stranded vehicles and removing snow is going on.

835 roads including three national highways are closed due to snowfall in the high altitude areas of Himachal Pradesh. The temperature in Tabo of Lahaul-Spiti was minus 10 degrees. Yellow alert for rain and snowfall is issued across the state for 2 days on Monday and Tuesday.

There is an alert of storm and rain at the speed of 40-50 kilometers per hour on January 27 and 28 in 20 districts of UP. The temperature is likely to drop by 5-6°C.

Cold increased in Rajasthan due to northern cold winds. The minimum temperature was minus 1.3 degrees in Nagaur and 5.6 degrees in Jaipur. The Meteorological Department has predicted light rain on January 26–27 due to the impact of western disturbance.

In 5 districts of Uttarakhand, there was snowfall in the high altitude areas of Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh on Sunday. Apart from this, according to the Meteorological Department, the weather is going to remain like this till January 29.

There was fog and cold winds in Madhya Pradesh in the morning. Visibility in Bhopal was 500 to 1000 meters. A road accident took place on Indore-Ahmedabad four lane in Dhar, although no one was seriously injured.

Weather condition in other states

• Punjab and Haryana- The effect of cold continued in Punjab and Haryana. The mercury was 3.4 degrees Celsius in Firozpur, Punjab and 2.8 degrees Celsius in Narnaul, Haryana. IMD has predicted light to moderate rain, strong winds and lightning in both the states from January 27.
• Tamil Nadu-Kerala- The Meteorological Department has warned of thunder, lightning and heavy rain in some parts of Tamil Nadu on Monday also. There is a possibility of strong winds in coastal areas. In view of similar situation in Kerala on January 26, fishermen have been advised not to go into the sea.
• Delhi-The minimum temperature dropped further in Delhi. The lowest temperature recorded in Palam was 4.5 degrees. The air quality recorded improvement for the second consecutive day and the AQI stood at 153.
