Supriya Sule dismisses family rift rumors, questions Mahayuti on Pune crime. Sanjay Raut criticizes BJP and Ajit Pawar-led NCP.

Ahead of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) elections, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP SCP) MP and Working National President Supriya Sule on Monday dismissed speculation of a rift within her family and hit out at the Mahayuti government over the law-and-order situation in Pune.
“There have never been any issues within our family. We are all here to serve the people,” Sule told reporters. She also questioned Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on what steps had been taken to address the rising crime in the city. “I have written to the Chief Minister several times about increasing crime in Pune. I want to know what action has been taken,” she said.
Her remarks come after the NCP (SCP) joined hands with the Ajit Pawar-led NCP for the upcoming Pune civic polls. Sule said her party had released a progressive manifesto and expressed confidence about its prospects. “We have launched a progressive manifesto. I am confident that the people of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad will stand with us,” she added.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut launched a sharp attack on the ruling Mahayuti alliance, alleging that it thrives on hooliganism. Addressing a public rally on Saturday, Raut claimed that the BJP and the Ajit Pawar-led NCP had given election tickets to relatives of gangsters.
“Pune was once a beautiful city, but today it has become known as a city of goons. Whether it is the BJP or Ajit Pawar’s party, there is hardly any gang whose relatives have not been given election tickets. I once said that if these people had met Dawood Ibrahim, they would have given tickets to his relatives too. They cannot win elections without hooliganism,” Raut said.
Separately, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi called on the Muslim community to build its own political agency and support parties that promote organic Muslim leadership. Speaking at a rally in Jalna on Sunday, Owaisi criticised both the Mahayuti and the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), saying mainstream parties had consistently opposed the rise of Muslim leaders.
“It is good that Congress, both factions of the NCP, Shiv Sena, Shiv Sena (UBT) and BJP are fighting the elections together. But when the issue of Muslim leadership comes up, everyone says they cannot win. None of these parties likes the emergence of a leader from the Muslim community,” Owaisi said.
The Maharashtra State Election Commission has announced elections to 29 municipal corporations across the state, including the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), PMC and the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). Polling will be held on January 15, with counting scheduled for January 16.
