The war between Ukraine and Russia has once again intensified. The Indian Embassy on Wednesday issued an advisory for its citizens living in Russia. Indian citizens living in Belgorod, Kursk and Bryansk regions have been asked to leave these areas and go to a safe place.
The Indian Embassy told Indians that they are fully prepared to provide any help. The Embassy has issued an e-mail- edu1.moscow@mea.gov.in. A helpline telephone number +7 9652773414 has also been issued.
Nearly two and a half years have passed since the war between Russia and Ukraine. So far this war has not reached any conclusion. For the first time Ukrainian soldiers have entered Russian territory. Emergency has also been declared in Belgorod in Russia.
Earlier, an emergency was imposed in Kursk on August 8. The governor of Belgorod has said that due to the bombing of Ukraine’s Seni, houses are being destroyed and common people are losing their lives.

Zelensky said- Ukrainian army is advancing 2-3 km every day
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Wednesday that Ukrainian forces are advancing 2 to 3 km into Russian territory every day. We have achieved a very strong position in Kursk. He also said that the Ukrainian army has shot down a Russian SU-34 jet in Kursk.
Zelensky claimed on Tuesday that Ukraine has captured 74 Russian villages. Along with this, 100 Russian soldiers have also been taken hostage. Ukraine claims that it has carried out a major drone attack on 4 Russian airbases (Voronezh, Kursk, Savasleka and Borisoglebsk).
2 lakh Russian people left their homes
On Wednesday, the Ukrainian Air Force claimed that it had shot down 17 Russian drones. According to the BBC, after Ukraine’s sudden attack, 2 lakh Russian citizens have been forced to flee from their homes. They have been sent to safe places.
Ukraine launched an attack on Russia’s Kursk region on 6 August. It captured 1000 square km of territory by 13 August. According to the New York Times, this is the first time since the Second World War that a country has intruded into Russia’s border.
According to CNN, Ukraine has captured as much territory in just 7 days as Russia has captured this year. According to the US-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russia has captured 1,175 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory in 2024.
Russia claims to have killed 2,300 Ukrainian soldiers
Russia has occupied 1 lakh square km of Ukraine’s territory in the two and a half years since the war began. This is 18% of Ukraine’s total land. Meanwhile, Russia has claimed that 2,300 of its soldiers have been killed in this action of Ukraine. 37 of its tanks and many military vans have been destroyed.
Putin held a meeting with local leaders and officials in Kursk on Monday. He described the Ukrainian attack as a provocative act. He has ordered his defense officials to expel the Ukrainian army from Russian territory.

The soldiers learned this information only a day before. Officers did not take the soldiers’ phones because they trusted them to keep it secret.
