Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Abhishek Banerjee has raised many serious questions targeting the Central Government, BJP and the Election Commission on the ongoing politics regarding the construction of Babri Masjid in Murshidabad and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process of the voter list. He says that religious places like mosque or temple should not become the subject of any kind of political bread and butter. Those who use religious places as political weapons should refrain from doing so.
Murshidabad On the construction of Babri Masjid, Abhishek said that he has seen only bricks laid there and some leaders are just fueling communal politics. Taking a jibe at Humayun Kabir, he asked why the leaders who had once been BJP candidates had no objection in joining the party that demolished Babri Masjid.
Accusing BJP of politics of dead bodies, Abhishek talked about putting up political posters even during the Pulwama attack. He Home Minister Amit Shah Asked for an answer from the Prime Minister on the violence happening in Bangladesh and said that the Prime Minister did not give any public reaction on this.
SIR and election Commission question on
Regarding the SIR process, he claimed that there was immense pressure on BLOs, which led to 58 deaths and 29 BLOs committing suicide. Raising questions on the Election Commission, Abhishek said that the Commission did not answer many of his questions and wrong information was leaked on the day of the meeting. He also said that names of lakhs of voters were removed in Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh and Kerala while least names were removed in Bengal, yet Bengal is being targeted.
Demand for list of 1.36 crore voters
Abhishek demanded from the Election Commission that the list of 1.36 crore alleged wrong voters should be made public, in which information about how many Rohingyas and Bangladeshis are included should also be given. If the list is not released then the Election Commission should apologize. He alleged that many living people have been shown dead and he has district level evidence.

Abhishek Banerjee announced that he would go to Delhi on 31 December to meet Election Commission officials and demand live telecast of the meeting. They warned that if the list is not released then they will gherao the Election Commission office.
Talking about further political programmes, Abhishek said that he will be active from January 1 and will take to the streets from January 2. They will organize rallies and public meetings in the districts and present to the public the report card of the work of the Mamata government in the last 15 years. Their movement will be against the insult to Bengal and the attacks on the state.
