MP News: Gwalior Police has exposed two high-profile fake marriage call centers operating in the city. While busting this gang which cheats people on the pretext of marriage and friendship in the name of websites like MyPartner India and Unique Rishtey, the police have caught 20 girls and arrested 2 women managers.
The modus operandi of the fraud revealed by the accused during the police investigation is shocking. The gang ran websites with the names mypartnerindia.com and uniquerishtey.com.
As soon as an internet user registers on the website, his details reach the call centre. After this, the employees used to download the photo of any beautiful girl from Google and send it on WhatsApp according to the caste and age of the customer.
If the customer liked the girl, he was charged a hefty membership fee as per his profile. As soon as the money was received, the girls of the call center used to pose as ‘future brides’ and talk sweetly to the customer so that he would keep paying more in the name of service.
On the instructions of SSP Dharamveer Singh Yadav and ASP Suman Gurjar, two teams of Crime Branch took action together near Mayur Plaza and Dwarkadhish Temple. At one center, 13 girls and at the other 7 girls were found hooking the customers through chatting and calling.
Police have arrested Rakhi Gaur (24), resident of Sankatmochan Nagar, Suraiyapura Murar, Sita alias Sheetal Chauhan (26), resident of Darpan Colony, Thathipur, from the spot. The main leader of the gang, Tileshwar Patel is currently absconding. He used to manage the data and website.
45 mobile phones, 12 ATM cards, 2 computers, SIM cards and check books and passbooks of banks have been seized from the accused.
This gang defrauded about 1500 people across the country. His earning per center was Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 3 lakh per month. Apart from the salary of Rs 5000, the girls were given a bonus on completing the target. Girls used to charge membership fee in the name of getting married and then used to charge separate money in the name of getting them to talk to the bride-to-be. Whereas she herself used to talk by changing her voice and identity.
Accounts of these girls were found in more than 10 banks including YES Bank, HDFC, SBI, AXIS. The police is now investigating the details of one year’s transactions of these accounts.
