Recently there were reports that the choreographer’s first choice for the song Shararat of the film Dhurandhar was Tamannaah Bhatia. But the film’s director Aditya Dhar rejected Tamanna.

Now the choreographer of the song Vijay Ganguly has called these reports wrong. He wrote on his social media handle that Tamanna was never selected for this role.

According to him, Tamannaah’s immense popularity and stardom could have been more influential than the demands of that scene. Therefore, the makers decided to choose two performers, so that the story could be kept at the center of the scene.

He also pointed out how words are introduced to sensationalise and words like rejection are used.

He wrote- ‘I love conversations related to cinema and the process of making it. But at times I have kept myself away from it, as words are often selectively picked up and presented in the wrong context or sensationalized for the sake of headlines rather than craft.

It is unfortunate that instead of talking about the mischief of the song and its creative intention, two great artists started being compared and strong but misleading words like ‘rejection’ were used, when that was never the case.

She further clarified why Tamannaah Bhatia was not considered for the prank song. He writes- ‘Cinema is a collaborative art. It is based on respect, precision and context. I hope we keep the focus where it belongs – on the work and all the people who put their hearts into it.

I would like to say clearly that Tamannaah Bhatia was never considered because her star power was so much that it could have overshadowed the special needs of this scene.

The music in Dhurandhar is part of a high-stakes moment, where the tension is vital. The makers chose two performances to maintain the pace and atmosphere of the story, so that the story remains the hero in this sequence.

Let us tell you that the prank song in the film Dhurandhar has been filmed on TV actresses Krystle D’Souza and Ayesha Khan. The song is written and composed by Shashwat Sachdeva. Jasmine Sandlas and Madhubanti Bagchi have given their voices to it.
