Netflix’s popular crime-thriller Raat Akeli Hai returns once again, but this time both the scope and tone of the story are more serious than before. Through Inspector Jalit Yadav (Nawazuddin Siddiqui)

The film makes a sharp commentary on power, money, media and the system that suppresses truth. It is not just a murder mystery, but also a mirror of the social and political realities of our times.

Story

The story begins with the influential Bansal family of Uttar Pradesh, where several family members are brutally murdered in a single night. Before this, the sight of dead crows indicates impending danger.

The needle of suspicion revolves around the drug addict son, the cunning relative, the mysterious guru mother and the remaining woman of the family, Neera Bansal (Chitrangada Singh).

The police administration wants to solve the case quickly, but Inspector Jalit Yadav sees something deeper and more dangerous in the matter. As the investigation progresses, the rich-poor gap, abuse of power and suppressed truths come to light.

acting

Nawazuddin Siddiqui (Jatil Yadav) carries the entire film with restrained and impressive acting. Without saying much dialogue, his eyes and body language say a lot.

Chitrangada Singh (Neera Bansal) looks solid in the role of a scared but mysterious mother.

Deepti Naval (Guru Maa) creates discomfort and doubt in every scene. Revathi (head of forensics) seems very organized and reliable. Radhika Apte (Radha) has a limited role, but her presence gives emotional depth to the story. The supporting actors have also worked honestly.

Direction and technical aspects

Honey Trehan’s direction is serious and confident. The atmosphere of the film is dark and full of suspense, which is well supported by the cinematography.

The editing is tight, but due to the abundance of characters, the story gets a bit complicated in some parts. The climax is satisfactory, although more impact could have been added to it.

music

The background music of the film strengthens the suspense and does not stand out excessively. Use of silence also leaves an impact in many places.

Final Verdict

Raat Akeli Hai 2: The Bansal Murders is a gritty, layered and thought-provoking crime thriller. Strong acting and social undertones make it strong, even if the story gets complicated at places. This film can be watched for viewers who like murder mystery and simple thriller.
