Now you can change the mobile number registered in Aadhar card sitting at home. The government has started this facility in the Aadhaar app. At the same time, the facility to update address, name and email ID will also start soon. The new digital service has been announced by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the organization that regulates Aadhaar.
Users will not need any document for these changes. Everything can be changed with OTP verification and face authentication on the app. This service will be convenient for people living in remote areas, senior citizens and those who migrate.
How will the new service work?
According to UIDAI, the process of updating Aadhaar through the app is quite simple. No document or physical visit is required for this. The entire process will be done in a few minutes.

- First of all users have to download the AADHAAR app.
- Here users will have to login by entering their Aadhaar number.
- OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number, verification will have to be done.
- For further use, a 6 digit login PIN has to be set.
How will the mobile number be updated in the app?
- Login to Aadhaar app by entering 6 digit PIN.
- Scroll down, click on ‘My Aadhaar Update’ under Services.
- First of all, the option to update mobile number will appear, click on it.
- Read important details here, click on Continue.
- Enter existing mobile number, verify OTP.
- Enter new mobile number and verify OTP.
- There will be face authentication, close your eyes once and open them by looking into the camera.
- The option to make payment will come, after depositing ₹75 the process will be completed.
Why is Aadhaar mobile update necessary?
Aadhaar card is the country’s largest identity service, in which data of more than 130 crore people is linked. Mobile number is the most important part of this, because through this OTP, one gets access to bank account, government subsidy, income tax verification and digital services like DigiLocker.
Many problems can occur if the number becomes old or lost. Till now, to update it, one had to go to the enrollment center, where there is hassle of biometric verification and long queues. But now UIDAI is going to make it easier in a digital way.
UIDAI launched AADHAAR app last month
A month ago, UIDAI had launched a new mobile app for Aadhaar card. In this, users can keep the Aadhaar of 5 people in the same phone. There is an option to share only that Aadhaar information which is necessary.
In this app, you can share Aadhaar details in the same way as you scan and make payment in UPI. To make the app more secure, features like face authentication have been added to it.
Features of Aadhaar’s new app
- Carry Aadhaar in the phone: E-Aadhaar will always be with you, there will be no need for paper copy.
- Face Scan Sharing: To share ID, face scan has to be done, as safe as PIN-OTP.
- Secure Login: The app will open with biometric authentication.
- Multi Language Support: Available in multiple languages including Hindi, English.
- Offline Use: You will be able to view Aadhaar even when there is no internet.
