On Tuesday evening, such a terrible fire broke out in Korail, the largest slum settlement of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, that it took more than 16 hours to extinguish it. According to Dhaka Tribune, the fire was caused by the explosion of a cylinder while cooking.
Due to the narrowness of the settlement, the fire spread rapidly from one house to another. Due to narrow streets, fire brigade vehicles could not reach inside. Due to which there was delay in controlling the fire.
Fire brigade official Rashed bin Khalid told local media that the fire, which started on Tuesday evening, was brought under control after Wednesday afternoon. This fire burnt 1500 houses to ashes. Due to which thousands of people have become homeless.
At the same time, many people including pregnant women and children spent the night in the cold. Korail settlement is spread over 160 acres. About 80 thousand people live here. Information about the injured and the dead has not been revealed yet.
