The White House on Tuesday emphatically rejected swirling media reports that President Donald Trump was contemplating the removal of FBI Director Kash Patel, dismissing the claims amidst heightened scrutiny over Patel’s professional conduct. The denial came after a report by news outlet MS NOW suggested that the President and his senior aides were growing increasingly frustrated with the “unflattering headlines” generated by the FBI chief and were considering replacing him with co-Deputy Director Andrew Bailey.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt took to social media to firmly push back against the speculation, branding the story as “completely made up”. Leavitt posted a photo of the President and Patel, explaining that the rumour broke while the two were in the Oval Office meeting with the law enforcement team. She recounted that after reading the headline aloud, President Trump simply laughed and said, “That’s totally false. Come on Kashlet’s take a picture to show them you’re doing a great job!”
