Actor Dharmendra, who is called the ‘Heman’ of Bollywood, has a huge fan in Sonipat, Haryana, whose pictures of Dharmendra are displayed everywhere from his house to his shop. He has also kept Dharmendra’s picture in the temple built in his shop and he worships it daily.

When their son was born, they named him Heemendra, naming him after Dharmendra. There are more than 350 posters of Dharmendra’s films in his shop. Dharmendra has worked in about 300 films and there would hardly be any film whose poster has not been made by a painter.
After the news of Dharmendra’s demise on 24th November, this fan in Sonipat is so sad that the stove was not lit in his house for a day. He says with teary eyes, “My God has left this world, but I will keep him alive in my heart and mind and every moment.”

Dharmendra’s admirer since childhood – Vinod Indora became ‘Dharmendra’ Vinod Indora, resident of Kot Mohalla Seed Market in Sonipat, has been a fan of Dharmendra’s films since childhood. After completing 11th, he started watching Dharmendra’s films. Vinod admired Bollywood actor Dharmendra so much that he changed his name to Dharmendra. He even runs his shop at Purkhas Adda in Sonipat in the name of Painter Dharmendra.
Dharmendra has been doing painting work since 1992. He is survived by his wife Manju, two sons Heemendra and Lucky and a daughter Pratigya.
Vinod has written the poem written on Dharmendra on an album and presented it to him.
Dharmendra’s influence in the family too – names of son and daughter are associated with films. Dharmendra Painter had named one of his sons after Bollywood star Dharmendra, and he has also named his daughter after Dharmendra’s film ‘Pratigya’. He wanted to name his second son Lucky also Dharmendra, but his father-in-law said that a name should be kept as per his wish, so he named Lucky.
Dharmendra says that he starts his work considering him as his God. He has written Dharmendra’s name on his shop, since then people consider him to be Dharmendra’s biggest fan. He has seen films like Lalkar, Pratigya, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Sholay many times. He has not left any of his films which he has not seen. The names of all the films are memorized.

Met Dharmendra for the first time in Mumbai in 2012 Painter Dharmendra told that he wanted to meet Dharmendra since childhood. Finally, on 27 January 2012, he went to Bobby Deol’s birthday in Mumbai, where his friend Ajit was also with him. On the first day, he found Dharmendra’s bungalow and as soon as he reached in front of the bungalow, he bowed down by placing his head in front of the door. The next day, with birthday wishes, he arrives to meet Dharmendra.
When he met Dharmendra for the first time, he could not believe that he was really standing in front of Dharmendra. He bowed down and did not speak for about 5-6 minutes. When his colleague Ajit mentioned being his fan, Dharmendra hugged him.
When the painter met Dharmendra for the first time in 2012, he touched his feet.
Dharmendra called and told his son’s name as Heemendra. Painter said that when he met Dharmendra for the first time, his wife was pregnant. A few days later a son was born. He had pledged that he would not see his son’s face until Dharmendra did the naming ceremony. Dharmendra called his manager and gave him the number and got information about which religion and which alphabet the name should be kept. After this, on 27 February 2012, Dharmendra’s grandson Karan called and said that “Grandfather will talk.”
Dharmendra asked about the condition of the family and told that he has named his son Heemendra. Painter Dharmendra says that the world knows me by the name of Heeman and Dharmendra is my own name, by combining both they were named Heemendra.
In the year 2015, Vinod Painter met actor Dharmendra in Mumbai. Then his friends also went with Vinod.

He also took Dharmendra’s autograph on the second copy, which he still treasures. He has written the names of all the films sequentially in the form of a poem. Painter Dharmendra says that even though his God has left this world, he is still alive in his hearts. They feel as if their family member has been separated from them. On hearing the news of Dharmendra’s demise, his family did not even prepare food. Seeing the posters all around the shop and the photos taken with Dharmendra, he doesn’t even feel like working.
Were going to meet for the third time in December The painter says that on his birthday in 2024, he had performed a havan for Dharmendra’s long life. This time, on Dharmendra’s birthday on 8th December, he wanted to take Himendra to Mumbai for the third time, but before that Dharmendra said goodbye to the world. People who get work done come to his shop every day and get impressed after seeing the posters of Dharmendra’s films. People of every age call him a fan of Dharmendra and want to hear about his life, meetings and stories from him.
