Four senior employees of a private firm in Bengaluru were kidnapped in broad daylight on Saturday morning, and a ransom of ₹18.9 lakh was demanded, the city’s police said.

The victims work for the BPO company Global Telecom Connect Pvt Ltd, located in Bengaluru’s Koramangala area. Police arrested eight suspects and seized two cars used in the crime: a Toyota Innova and a Maruti Suzuki Wagon R.

According to the South-East Bengaluru Deputy Commissioner of Police, Sarah Fathima, the kidnappers misled the employees by claiming police were waiting outside their office building. Under that ruse, they led them downstairs and abducted them.

The perpetrators instructed one of the victims to transfer part of the ransom into relatives’ bank accounts and also demanded cash payment. The incident was triggered when a “112″ emergency call alerted the police; teams were dispatched, the vehicles located, and suspects apprehended.

A case of kidnapping for ransom has been registered, and further investigation is ongoing.
