There will be only photo and QR code on Aadhaar card: UIDAI is making rules to prevent misuse of photocopy, may be implemented from December

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is considering redesigning the Aadhaar card. In future, Aadhaar card may have only the holder’s photo and QR code. That means Aadhaar number, name-address, date of birth and other biometric information will not be there on the card.

UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar told in an online conference that new rules are being made to prevent misuse of copy of Aadhaar. After this, even after viewing the Aadhaar card and submitting its photocopy, your details will not go to any other person, institution, office or companies.

Especially hotels, telecom SIM sellers, organizers of conferences, seminars etc. will not be able to misuse the photocopy of your Aadhaar. UIDAI is planning to implement the new rules in December 2025.

For this, UIDAI will soon launch a new mobile app of Aadhaar. This app will allow Aadhaar holders to share identity digitally without photocopy and get complete or selected information verified. The new app will make the process of sharing identity digitally more secure, simple and paperless.

What will happen in the new base…

• In future the card may have only photo + Secure QR code. Name can also be printed but Aadhaar number will not be visible.
• The QR code can be scanned with a custom app or UIDAI certified tool, thereby verifying the details online.
• Offline verification i.e. the method of identification through photocopy of the card will be gradually reduced.

Currently, the Aadhaar card contains name, Aadhaar number, photo, QR code. The methods of verification are both offline and online. There is a risk of photocopying and misuse of data offline.
