Akshat Shrivastava, hedge fund manager and founder of Wisdom Hatch, surprised his followers with a job posting for an Analyst position in the UAE. The opportunity has caught attention not just for the role but also for the low salary he is offering. The base pay starts at around Rs 1 Lakh per month and the package becomes tax free after one year. What makes the job even more unusual is the requirements. Applicants can have any degree, no prior finance experience and even college dropouts are eligible.
Candidates need to show proof of managing their own investment portfolio and demonstrate the ability to outperform the market. They must also create a sample $100,000 portfolio to beat the Nasdaq within a year, explaining investment choices, risks and hedging strategies.

Taking to X, Akshat Shrivastava wrote, “Looking to hire an Analyst, who is contrarian. Remote work (work from home). Chance to relocate to UAE (tax free salary) after 1 year. Understands global, Indian markets, options. Compensation: base salary (at least 1L/month)+ performance (ranges from 50-500% of your salary). You will manage a real portfolio and depending on the alpha you generate, you will get a performance bonus.”
“Requirements – Education: don’t care. Any degree, age. No prior work ex in finance required. College dropouts are fine. Should be managing your own portfolio currently (portfolio size does not matter). At least 1 year of history. You will work directly with me,” he added.
As per Akshat Shrivastava’s post, “1) Show me your real portfolio (with proof) that you can beat the markets. Email me the link to check and verify. 2) Is AI in a bubble? Back everything you write with data/proof, discuss specific securities. Use AI. Use books. Do primary/secondary research (doesn’t matter). Organise & present your thoughts well. No world limit.
Write as much/as little you like to make your case. 3) Build a sample portfolio of 100K USD (right now in the market). Explain the rationale for each investment as of Nov 2025. Study market outlook. Sector outlook. Theme outlook. Goal of the portfolio: to beat the Nasdaq over the next 1 year. How much cash will you keep (vs how much in investments). Explain why this portfolio is likely to beat the Nasdaq. What are the risks? And, how will you hedge it?”

Social Media Users Question Salary Structure
Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “You’re leveraging someone’s expertise to generate crores yet offering just Rs. 1 lakh in salary and smartly put a range 50 to 500% PB. Why not 500% PB fixed? Your geography changed, but the mindset didn’t. It still reflects a legacy of undervaluing talent and exploiting effort.”
Another shared, “Who will work for you or anyone else if someone is able to beat Nasdaq. Pretty weird Requirement and post.”
“If you are applying to work for this beta, you will never generate alpha,” a comment read.
An individual stated, “This sounds like an exciting role, but I feel a real job should focus on taking someone with potential, training them with your experience, and then giving them the wings to grow. If the core value you want is ‘alpha generation,’ that ability gets built over time, not pre-proven through a portfolio or an upfront performance based structure.”
Another mentioned, “That much for 1 Lakh salary, crazy. Well, a guy with the things you’ve mentioned could easily get $10k+ a month or can build his own portfolio.”
One more asked why they should work for him if they are already able to earn higher returns on their own portfolio. They looked confused about the point of joining the role when their personal investments are already successful and wondered if they were missing something in understanding the opportunity.
