A case of gang rape and murder of a 16 year old girl has come to light in Swaroop Nagar, Delhi. Police have arrested four accused. According to police, the girl’s body was found under leaves and soil in a field near Kushak Road on September 13. There were about 6 to 8 knife wounds on his body. Police have arrested Shivam Ganesh (19) in this case. His three minor companions, aged 17 and 16, have also been detained. According to the police, the girl knew the accused. She had gone to meet him on the evening of Saturday, 10 September. Initial investigation revealed that the accused committed the crime under the influence of alcohol. A case was registered in this matter under relevant sections of BNS and POCSO Act. Police searched more than 50 CCTV cameras. Police teams searched the footage of more than 50 CCTV cameras of the incident site and surrounding roads. During investigation, a tempo was seen passing near the spot at the probable time of the incident. Due to darkness, the registration number of the tempo was not clearly visible. After this the investigators traced his movements at several CCTV locations. On the intervening night of 15 and 16 September, the police conducted a search operation all night long. The suspicious tempo was traced to Khadda Colony of Swaroop Nagar area. Police identified the tempo driver and interrogated him. As the investigation progressed, four people were arrested. According to the police, all of them are connected to this crime. Police have recovered two knives used in the crime, clothes allegedly worn by the accused and the tempo. Police said further investigation is underway. In this, the sequence of events, different roles of the arrested people and forensic and technical evidence will be confirmed.
