Pollution in Delhi-NCR is not only suffocating people but it is also affecting the players in a different way. Due to pollution, less number of foreign boxers reached the World Boxing Cup final. Haryana boxer will have to pay the consequences of this by being deprived of cash awards and other facilities.
20 boxers from India are participating in the World Boxing Cup Finals 2025 being held from 16 to 20 November at Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex. Most of whom come from Haryana. Many top boxing countries have rejected the event. There are five weight categories, out of which only 3 to 4 players have participated. That means there are 3-4 players standing on the podium and approximately the same number of participants.
Sports motivator Rajnarayan Panghal said that due to pollution in Delhi-NCR this season, players avoid coming to India. Players from England and Australia especially avoid the matches held in NCR. Such things should be taken care of in such a big event.

- Minimum of 7 foreigners required: Haryana Sports Department has a rule that if less than 7 countries participate in any international event, then the player will not be given cash award. Along with this, they will not be considered eligible for any facility provided by the government like gradation, job, promotion, sports award etc.
- Many Olympians from Haryana are taking part: Haryanvi boxers are participating in 9 weight categories in the competition. These include Jasmine Lamboria in 57kg, Praveen Hooda in 60kg, Neeraj Phogat in 65kg, Sweety Boora in 75kg, Pooja Rani Bohra in 80kg, Hitesh Gulia in men’s 70kg, Ankush Panghal in 80kg, Jugnu Ahlawat in 85kg and Narendra Berwal in 90kg plus.
- These players have represented the country: Of these, Preeti Panwar Badesara, Jasmine Lamboria represented India in the Paris Olympics. Whereas Pooja Bohra is going to get the first quota in the women’s category for Tokyo Olympics.

Amendment in cash award rules is the only solution Sports experts say that it is normal for the number of countries to be less in ranking-based tournaments. But it is not fair that the players have to bear the brunt of this. In the present times, changing the rules is not only necessary but also mandatory in the interest of the players.
Tournament is based on ranking: Pramod Kumar Chaudhary Pramod Kumar Yugal, General Secretary of Boxing Federation of India, said that the tournament is ranking based. In which boxers have been selected on the basis of points. Only maximum top-8 players are called in such tournaments. There is nothing wrong with the management and location.
Under consideration: Sports Director Director of Haryana Sports Department, IAS Sanjeev Verma said that consideration is going on to change the gradation rules in ranking events. We have received such proposals from sports associations. The game rules keep changing from time to time for encouragement.
