Delhi Blast Highlights: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested an accomplice of the alleged Delhi suicide bomberUmar Un nabi, from the national capital on Sunday, six days after the blast that claimed 13 lives.
The arrested person has been identified as Amir Rashid Ali, a resident of Pampore in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to investigators, Rashid Ali “had conspired with the alleged suicide bomber to unleash the terror attack”.
“Amir had come to Delhi to facilitate the purchase of the car which was eventually used as a vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device (IED) to trigger the blast,” the anti-terror agency said in a statement.
The NIA this morning carried out raids in Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh in connection with Monday’s explosion in Delhi. The blast near the Red Fort killed 13 people and injured many others.
The explosion happened at 6:52 pm in a white coloured Hyundai i20 driven by a Kashmiri doctor, Umar Mohammad, alias Umar Nabi.
He was a doctor at the Al-Falah University in Faridabad, which is currently under the scrutiny of investigative agencies. Besides him, two doctors associated with Al-Falah, Muzammil Ganaei and Shaheen Sayeed, have also been arrested.
