Police have revealed such a secret lab from a remote farmhouse in Dantrai village of Sirohi district of Rajasthan, which even the investigating agencies were surprised to see. An illegal factory of synthetic stimulants and psychoactive drugs like Mephedrone was running in a very isolated area. It was not being run by a gangster, but by a person who had prepared for civil services.
This action was taken by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Rajasthan The joint team of police did it on 6th November. Information was already being received that suspicious chemicals and heavy machinery were being stored in a farmhouse for a long time. When the police reached the spot, they found a stock of drums, packets and equipment which was no less than that of a professional chemical lab.
According to a police officer, the total weight of the seized chemicals is hundreds of kilograms, which was enough to prepare approximately 100 kg of mephedrone. Its price in the international market has been estimated at around Rs 40 crore. In the initial investigation itself, the indications were clear that this setup was much bigger than a normal operation. An organized network is active behind this.
As soon as the Jodhpur NCB team received the information, they immediately reached Sirohi. A team from the National Forensic Sciences University, Gandhinagar was called to inspect the spot. Forensic experts confirmed that the seized equipment and chemicals contained precursors used in the production of mephedrone. This was not a secret lab, but an active mephedrone unit.
After this the investigation team started tracking the identity and location of the operators of this illegal factory. Gradually the layers of this racket started unraveling. The mastermind of this gang has been identified as Ram. Along with him, four accused were arrested from different parts of Rajasthan and Gujarat. During interrogation, the accused made shocking revelations to the investigators.
Mastermind Ram told that he had been preparing for competitive examinations for a long time, in which civil services were also included. But continuous failures pushed him towards crime. He chose the path of manufacturing Mephedrone to earn money. He admitted that equipment had been procured from different states to convert the lab into a ‘full-functional’ chemical unit.
A large part of the operation was spread in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. The rapidly increasing use of Mephedrone as a psychotropic drug in these states was the basis of this racket’s earnings. This was the reason why the network was constantly trying to set up new secret labs. Due to the correct guidelines of NCB, the police has succeeded in catching the entire racket in Dantrai village.
