Meghalaya Police Stop Assam Congress Leader’s Son For Driving Beacon Car: ‘Pura Khandaan MP Ho Gaya Hai Kya?’ | VIDEO

A vehicle belonging to Congress MP Rakibul Hussain was stopped by Meghalaya police on Thursday, November 13, near the Assam-Meghalaya border. The car, driven by the MP’s son, Tanzil Hussain, was found using a red VIP beacon even though the MP was not in the vehicle. The entire incident was caught on camera, and the video has now surfaced on the internet.

According to reports, the police intercepted the car during a routine check at Umling after noticing the flashing light being used without authorisation. VIP beacons are meant to signal the presence of public officials, and using them without approval violates government rules.

‘Is the whole family MP gone?’ Police Intercept Vehicle With MP’s Son

The viral video shows Ri-Bhoi Senior Superintendent of Police VS Rathore questioning the driver. He asks, “Ye gadi mein MP baithe hai? (Is the MP sitting in the car?).” The driver replies, “Ladka hai unka (It’s his son).”

The officer presses further, saying, “MP baithe hai ki nahi, ye btao (Tell me if the MP is in the car or not),” and asks for the MP’s name. The driver answers, “Rakibul Hussain.” The officer then remarks, “Rakibul Hussain Shahab baithe hai andar? Member of Parliament hai kya gaadi mein? Nahi na fir kyu light jalaya tumne? (Is Rakibul Hussain inside? Is the MP in the car? No? Then why did you switch on the light?).”

He further comments, “Aap log road pe apna aapko bahut bade top samjhte hai. Pura khandaan MP ho gaya hai kya? (You people think you are very important on the road. Has the entire family become MPs?).”

The viral video, shared by a user on Reddit, carried a caption that read: “SSP V S Rathore, Meghalaya police, intercepted a car using a VIP flashing light at Umling last night. Upon investigation, the SSP discovered that the vehicle, bearing registration number AS 02 AM 6186, belongs to Rakibul Hussain, the Member of Parliament (MP) from Dhubri (Assam) Lok Sabha Constituency. The vehicle was being driven by the MP’s son.”

Assam Minister Criticises Congress

The video drew reactions on social media. Among those were Assam Minister of Food, Public Distribution & Consumer Affairs Kaushik Rai who criticised the Congress party on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “This is the VIP culture perpetrated by INC Assam – even though they are out of power!”

“In this car, intercepted by Meghalaya Police, Cong MP Rockibul Hussain’s son was travelling with a VIP beacon! (In his abu’s absence),” he wrote further.

In another tweet, the minister said, “So, Assam Congress MP Rakibul Hussain’s son Tanjil’s VIP arrogance in Meghalaya is all over the news. Guess who taught him this sense of entitlement? And the real question is – what didn’t they do when they were in power?”

Immediate Action Taken By Police

According to the reports, the light was dismantled on the spot and a fine was imposed on the driver for violating government rules.
