Fujian makes China’s navy the second largest carrier fleet in the world after the US.
China has officially inducted its new and most modern aircraft carrier ‘Fujian’ into the Navy. This announcement was made by China’s official news agency Xinhua.
President Xi Jinping handed over Fujian to the navy at a ceremony held in Hainan province on November 5. He also went to the ship and inspected it.
Fujian is China’s third aircraft carrier. This ship is completely designed and built in China. Earlier, two aircraft carriers Liaoning and Shandong were built on Russian design.
Fujian is a supermodern carrier with well-equipped electric systems. J-35 stealth fighters will also be deployed on it, which will increase China’s dominance from Taiwan to the Indian Ocean.

Fujian is the first aircraft carrier entirely designed and built by China.
It is named after Fujian, China’s Fujian province, which is located opposite Taiwan.
Fujian has a flat flight deck i.e. there is no ramp for taking off.
It is equipped with Electromagnetic Catapult System (EMALS). This is the same technology that America uses in its new aircraft carriers.
China has conducted the test flight of its new J-35 stealth fighter from this ship. This is China’s first carrier that can fly stealth aircraft.
This will make fighter planes fly faster
Its biggest feature is that it has been installed with flat flight deck and Electromagnetic Catapult System (EMALS). With this, fighter planes can fly easily and faster.
Apart from America, only China has this technology. Earlier Chinese ships had ski-jump ramps, which made it difficult to fly heavy planes, but on Fujian, heavy fighter jets, stealth fighters and aircraft with radar can also take off and land easily.
What is Electromagnetic Catapult System? Launching a fighter plane from any aircraft carrier requires a special type of system because the runway of an aircraft carrier is shorter than the runway on the ground. Therefore, a special type of system is used for landing and takeoff of planes on aircraft carriers, which is called CATOBAR system.
The function of CATOBAR system is to launch and recover fighter planes from any aircraft carrier. There are two types of these systems. The first steam catapult which is mostly used in carriers. The second is Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS).

- Only heavy fighter planes can be launched from steam catapult, whereas heavy as well as light fighter planes can be launched from EMALS.
- EMALS is superior to steam catapults in terms of energy efficiency, providing a linear acceleration curve in launching the plane.
- The EMALS catapult system requires much less maintenance than conventional steam systems.
- Top side weight can be reduced with the help of EMALS system. It also increases both manned and unmanned launch capabilities of the aircraft carrier.

Because of Fujian, China can now show its power in distant seas like Taiwan, South China Sea and the Indian Ocean. Fujian makes China’s navy the second largest carrier fleet in the world after the US.
During testing, China flew its new fighter aircraft J-35 stealth fighter, KJ-600 warning aircraft and J-15 fighter from this carrier. Experts say that in the coming months it will be seen how quickly Fujian can prepare for war.
Electricity has been used very smartly in the Fujian aircraft carrier.
