Bihar Elections: BJP announced 18 more names, taking its total number of declared candidates to 101.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its third and final list of candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, announcing 18 more names and taking its total number of declared candidates to 101, completing its slate for the state polls. The latest list features several prominent state leaders, including Nand Kishor Ram (Ramnagar), Sanjay Pandey (Narkatiaganj), Ram Singh (Bagaha) and former minister Vinay Bihari (Lauriya).

Among the key contests, the BJP has fielded Satish Kumar Yadav from Raghopur against RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, who filed his nomination papers from the seat earlier this week, seeking a third consecutive win. The Raghopur constituency holds historical significance for the Yadav family- both Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi, former chief ministers of Bihar, have previously represented it.

Other candidates include Narayan Prasad (Nautan), Umakant Singh (Chanpatia), Krishnanandan Paswan (Harsidhi), Sachindra Prasad Singh (Kalyanpur), Lalbabu Prasad Gupta (Chiraia), Bina Devi. (Kochadhaman), Vinod Yadav (Baisi), Kumar Shailendra (Bihpur), Murari Paswan (Pirpainti), Ashok Kumar Singh (Ramgarh), Sangeeta Kumari (Mohania), Bharat Bind (Bhabua) and Ranvijay Singh. (Goh).

The third list follows the first list of 71 candidates released on October 14 and a second list of 12 names. The first list featured Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, contesting from Tarapur and Lakhisarai, respectively. Minister Mangal Pandey was fielded from Siwan while State Minister Nitin Nabin and Renu Devi were named from Bankipur and Bettiah. The second list included folk singer Maithili Thakur from Alinagar, Ram Chandra Prasad from Hayaghat, Ranjan Kumar from Muzaffarpur and former IPS officer Anand Mishra from Buxar.

With this announcement, the BJP has now finalised its 101 candidates for the 243-member Bihar Legislative Assembly, allocating around 12% of its tickets to women. The party has chosen not to field any sitting Members of Parliament or Union ministers in the state polls as it focuses on local leadership and new faces.

Polling in Bihar will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11, with counting scheduled for November 14.
