Before committing suicide on October 7, Puran Kumar had sent a last note to his wife, IAS officer Amneet P Kumar. His dead body was found in the theater built in the basement of his house in Sector-11, and his mobile phone was found nearby.
Big revelations have emerged from its call details. Earlier, a case has been registered against 15 officers including DGP Shatrujit Kapoor on the basis of 8 page last note of late Chandigarh Police IPS.
Through call details, the investigation team is trying to find out what was discussed with which people before they died.

- The investigation will not proceed further without postmortem: The biggest hurdle in the investigation of IPS Y Puran Kumar’s suicide case is the postmortem report. The reasons for suicide will be known only after the postmortem report is received, it will be clear from the report whether the matter is actually related to suicide or not.
- Fingerprints can be obtained from laptop: Chandigarh Police is also searching for the laptop on which the suicide note was typed. What happened in the investigation so far?
- Police has scrutinized the call details: Some important clues have also been found in the investigation of Chandigarh Police so far. Investigation of the phone recovered from the spot has revealed some call details. According to police sources, before committing suicide, Puran Kumar had called several IAS, IPS officers, his lawyer and some close ones. Making these call details a part of the investigation, the SIT has started investigating the sequence and timing of the conversations in detail. Sources say that the people with whom Chandigarh Police last talked to may soon be interrogated.
- Wrote a letter to get postmortem done: DSP Charanjit Singh Virk, who is investigating this high profile suicide case, has written a letter to the family members of Puran Kumar and called them for identification of the body. However, even after the letter written on Sunday, no one from his family reached PGI on Monday. In the letter, it has been written by the police that if the postmortem is delayed, many important evidences can be affected. The police wrote that the postmortem report is extremely important to take the investigation forward, because on the basis of this report the real cause of death will be revealed and the investigation will be taken forward.
After returning from Japan on October 8, Amneet P. Kumar reached the mortuary of the hospital located in Sector 16, Chandigarh.
What are the police preparing for the future?
SIT will interrogate the gunman SIT Chief Pushpendra Kumar has written a letter to Haryana Police seeking complete records of the FIR lodged against Puran Kumar’s gunman Sushil, lodged in Rohtak jail. According to sources, SIT may soon interrogate gunman Sushil lodged in Rohtak jail after taking permission from the court.
Shyam Sundar on leave, Sunil transferred to IPS. In the Y Puran Kumar suicide case, the SIT formed by Chandigarh Police reached Rohtak Police Station Urban Estate on October 11 and interrogated him. When SIT gathered information about Reader Shyam Sundar and ASI Sunil, who were working in the IG office, it came to know that Shyam Sundar was on leave for the last two-three days. Whereas ASI Sunil has been transferred to Bhiwani. Now there is no information about his whereabouts. Both were called to Chandigarh on Monday.
SIT investigated at its own level, no connection with local police Rohtak Superintendent of Police (SP) Surendra Bhauria said that the SIT has come to Rohtak and conducted inquiries at its level. He had no contact with the local police. SIT is investigating the case. No other person has been detained in this case.
