India’s biggest school hackathon, Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025, kicked off today, inviting students from classes 6 to 12 to display their creativity and innovative ideas.
The Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025, India’s largest school hackathon, officially began today. Streamed from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM, the event aims to tap into the creative potential of over 1 crore students from classes 6 to 12 across the country.
Organised by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) and NITI Aayog, the Buildathon is designed to go beyond classroom learning. Its goal is to instil a culture of innovation and design thinking among school students, empowering them to become active contributors to India’s future.
The hackathon aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and is inclusive, with a special focus on students from aspirational districts, tribal areas, and remote regions. Students can submit their project and video summaries on the official portals, vbb.mic.gov.in or schoolinnovationmarathon.org/registration, from today until October 31.

Entries will be evaluated from November 1 to December 31. The results of the Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 are expected to be announced in January 2026, followed by the felicitation of the top-performing teams.

October 11 – October 12: Mentoring and idea development camps
October 13: Live Buildathon held in schools
October 13 – October 31: Project submission period
November 1 – December 31: Expert evaluation of entries
January 2026: Announcement and felicitation of winners
