Israeli Man, Who Lost His Girlfriend In Hamas Attack Two Years Ago, Sets Self On Fire

Two years ago, Mapal Adam, 25, was murdered by Hamas at the Supernova music festival near Kibbutz Re’im. Her boyfriend, Roei Shalev, who survived the attack, committed suicide on Friday. Two years later, he shared a social media post and said goodbye.

As per a report by The Jerusalem Post, Shalev was found dead on Friday in a burning car on a highway exit near Netanya. The CCTV footage showed Shalev at a gas station filling a fuel canister before the incident.

Before taking the extreme step, Shalev shared a message on Instagram. “I’m truly sorry. I can’t bear this pain any longer,” he wrote. “I’m burning inside, and I can’t contain it anymore. Never in my life have I felt such pain and suffering – deep, burning, eating me from within. I just want this suffering to end. I’m alive – but inside, I’m already dead.”

On October 7, 2023, terrorists infiltrated the Gaza border communities and killed some 1,200 people. In the attack, Shalev was shot but he survived, but his girlfriend and a close friend, Hill Solomon, were shot dead.

During the attack, Mapal and her boyfriend Roei Shalev hid under a truck and played dead for hours until Hamas terrorists shot Mapal at close range. The woman was texting her sister moments before dying.

As per a report by The Times Of Israel, Mapal’s sister Maayan Adam is a television presenter. “I’m scared, Maayan,” Mapal texted her during the attack. “There’s a massacre, there’s a massacre,” wrote Mapal. “Bullets are hitting me in the head.”

Days after the attack, Shalev’s mother also committed suicide; she also set her car on fire, according to The JPost.
