Story- Iran’s Judo player gained weight in one night by eating too much
Earlier in the 2004 Olympic Games, Iranian Judo player Arash Miresmaeili was also disqualified due to overweight. He was about to play a match against Israeli player Ehud Vaks. Arash was angry with the IOC for allowing Israel to participate in the Olympics.

To counter this, he kept eating something or the other the night before the match, which led to his weight gain. Iran’s Olympic team chairman Nasrullah Sajadi had appealed to the government that Arash should be given a reward of 115 thousand dollars.

In fact, if Arash had won the gold medal, he would have received the same amount of money as prize money. Iran’s then President Mohammad Khatami had said that after refusing to compete with Israel, Arash’s name has been recorded in the history of the country. Iran considers him the champion of the Olympic Games.
