A 7.8 magnitude earthquake occurred on the east coast of Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula on Friday morning, after which a tsunami warning has been issued. In the video of the earthquake posted on Russian social media, furniture and lights were seen moving in homes. The shocks were so sharp that the vehicles parked on the streets also appeared to be moving.
According to the American Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km from the land, 128 km from the Russian city of Petropavalovsk-Kampachkski. Russia’s State Geophysical Service reported the intensity of the earthquake 7.4 and reported at least five afterchocks.
Governor Vladimir Solodov said on Telegram- This morning is once again examining the patience of the people of Kamchatka. There is no news of any loss at the moment. I appeal to everyone to maintain peace. A tsunami warning has been issued to the eastern coast of the Kamchatka. The public is being alerted.
