On 22nd September, a grand ceremony of the National Film Award, the most prestigious and highest considered of Indian cinema, is being organized in Ektanagar (Kevadiya), Gujarat. Many leaders including President Draupadi Murmu, Union Minister, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and celebrities from Bollywood as well as South will be present in this program.
In the 72nd National Film Awards, the film ‘Article 370’ will be awarded the Best Feature Film, the film ‘Srikanth’ will be awarded the Best Hindi Film and Yami Gautam will be awarded the Best Actress in Leading Role. At the same time, Mammootty will be given the award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for ‘Bhramyugam’ and Kartik Aryan for ‘Chandu Champion’.
For the first time in the 72-year history of this award, this ceremony is being organized outside Delhi and this time Gujarat has been assigned to host it. Preparations are going on in full swing in Ekta Nagar regarding this.
An AC German Dome has been prepared for the guests at the Statue of Unity, which has a seating arrangement for 1,000 people. Apart from this, famous Gujarati dishes will be served to the guests.

Dainik Bhaskar’s team reached the spot for the historic 72nd National Film Awards ceremony to be held in Ektanagar. Preparations for the event are being finalized at the ‘Bus Bay’ (Bus Terminal) area near the Statue of Unity. To make this grand event successful and memorable, a team of more than 500 technicians, artisans and laborers from different fields are working continuously day and night.
‘German Aluminum Structural Dome’, waterproof and centrally air-conditioned
A huge and hi-tech dome with a seating capacity of 1,000 people is being built near the Statue of Unity. This modern ‘German Aluminum Structural Dome’ will be completely waterproof and centrally air-conditioned. It is being fully equipped with state-of-the-art sound and modern lighting systems for an immersive event experience.
Attractive stage lighting and VIP lounge
The work on the structure and interior of the ‘German Dome’ is in the final stages. Experts are continuously monitoring to prepare hi-tech sound system, attractive stage lighting and VIP lounge. Before the arrival of the President and the country’s leading film artists, the work of decorating the entire complex with attractive lights and theme based decorations is going on in full swing.
A team of more than 500 technicians, artisans and laborers are working continuously day and night.
How will be the schedule of the National Awards Ceremony?
- Awards and certificates will be presented to the winners of various categories during the main protocol session of about 75 minutes in the presence of President Draupadi Murmu.
- The main function will begin with the lighting of the lamp and the national anthem in the presence of President Draupadi Murmu, Union Ministers and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel between 4 to 5:15 pm.
- After this, awards will be given in various categories including feature film, non-feature film as well as best actor and actress.
- President Draupadi Murmu will address the personalities of the film industry between 5:15 pm to 6 pm.
- After this, official group photography will be done with all the award winners.
- After the main function is over, a special cultural program has been organized for the guests on the banks of river Narmada after 6:30 pm.
- Apart from this, special theme based laser and light and sound show has also been organized at the Statue of Unity.
This year, the Best Actor award will be given to Kartik Aryan in the lead role for ‘Chandu Champion’ and Malayalam film industry actor Mammootty for the film ‘Bhramayugam’. The Best Actress award will be given to Yami Gautam for the film ‘Article 370’. The Best Debut Director award will be given to Randeep Hooda for ‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar’.
Organizing a national level prestigious event like National Film Awards in Ektanagar will provide unprecedented impetus to Gujarat’s tourism and local economy.
