A 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck the Andaman and Nicobar Islands at 12.11 am on Tuesday, with tremors felt at a depth of 10 km, as per official agencies.

A powerful, magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck the Andaman and Nicobar Islands early Tuesday, according to the National Center for Seismology.

The tremors in the region were felt at 00.11 am, at a depth of 10 km, it said.

The same was confirmed in a report with Reuters, which quoted the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ).

There were no reports of any injuries or damage to property due to the earthquake.

A previous earthquake of magnitude 4.9 had struck the Andaman Sea on Friday, the National Center of Seismology said.

The earthquake was recorded in the middle of the Andaman Sea at a depth of 10 kilometres.

As per the NCS, the tremors were felt at 6.44 pm IST at a depth of 10 kilometres.

On Monday night, an earthquake of magnitude 3.5 jolted Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap district at 6.36 pm, IST, as reported by the National Centre of Seismology.

Earlier on July 21, an earthquake of magnitude 3.4 struck the Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh late Sunday night, the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) reported.

The earthquake struck at a depth of 5 km.
