Answer: The whole world is aware of Jaipur’s jewelery heritage, beauty, royal tradition and excellent workmanship. This was the reason why the team making the film Ramayana reached Jaipur about 3 years ago. See the collection of royal designs from North to South Indian style from jewelery brand Amrapali here. Around 4500 pieces of jewelery were required for all the characters ranging from Ram-Sita to Ravana. As soon as the work was liked, an order was immediately placed to the jewelery brand. It took about 18 months to prepare this entire order. Everyone came to know about the Jaipur connection of the film Ramayana when the trailer of the film was launched. Jewelers from Jaipur who produce jewelery were also specially invited in this event. Question-2: 4500 ornaments, 18 months, how many people were required for a film? Answer: This big order of jewelery was prepared by 25 designers. First of all, each character of Ramayana was understood – what was their personality, what was their royal status during the Ramayana period. Then research was done on the history, sculpture, temple art and traditional jewelery of that period. Only then were the designs finalized. It took 18 months to complete this work. Question- 3: What is the difference between the jewelery designs of the characters of Ramayana? Answer: Lord Ram was from Ayodhya, Mother Sita was from Mithila and Ravana was from Lanka. In such a situation, while making jewellery, special attention was paid to the culture of the three places. Ayodhya has royal and satrapal grandeur, so the jewelery there was made with similar chic. Mithila has gentleness and traditional beauty, so the jewelery there was kept fine. Ravana’s Lanka has been described as the city of gold, where there was immense prosperity, hence the jewelery there had more shine and splendor. As long as Lord Ram, Mother Sita and Lakshman are in the palace, their jewelery is heavy and majestic, but their appearance completely changes during their exile. Question-4: Why were wooden ornaments made in exile? Answer: To show the real life of forest dwellers. When Ram, Sita and Lakshman go to the forest, they cannot wear gold and silver. Therefore, jewelery was made for them from very rare and light wood. So that the character looks original as per the story. Question-5: For which characters was the jewelery made? Answer: Hanuman, Bali, Sugriva, Lakshman, Bharat, Shatrughan, King Dashrath, Mother Kaushalya, Kaikeyi, Sumitra, King Janak, Mother Sunaina, Urmila, Mandvi, Shrutikirti, Ravana’s wife Mandodari and sister Shurpanakha. Even the characters seen in the crowd were made into separate ornaments. Its purpose was not only to show beauty, but also to show the art of that time closely. Question-6: Are these ornaments made of gold and silver, how much will they cost? Answer: Most of the jewelery shown in the film is made of brass and brass. Where necessary, layers of gold and silver were added, so that it looked like the original. It was not possible to make such a large number of jewelery from pure gold and silver. Yet close attention was paid to the intricate carvings, ravage work and traditional craftsmanship. It is not easy to determine the monetary value of this jewelery collection. The entire collection will be back after the shooting of the film, in about 3 to 4 months. Then some jewelery will be displayed in the museum. However, some sets are still with the film unit. Because Ramayana is being made in two parts. Some work is left in the shooting of the next part. Question-7: How will this Ramayana jewelery reach the common people? Answer: Inspired by the jewelery of the film, wearable designs for common people are also being made. It consists of brooches, hairpins, neck lockets and silver coins. Small ear rings inspired by the earrings of Mother Sita, necklaces inspired by her wedding jewelery and bangles with Kundan-Meenakari art are being prepared. New designs will also be made from exile wood jewellery. Question- 8: For which films, jewelery has been made in Jaipur before? Answer: This is not the first time that Jaipur has worked for films. Earlier, jewelery for films like Baahubali 1 and 2, Manikarnika, Ramleela, Saawariya had also been made here. But the project of Ramayana is the most special because when the film has been released across the world, along with it the age-old art of Jaipur has also reached the big screen. ….
