Two cousins were killed and another person seriously injured after their car spun out of control and crashed into a pillar of the Bund Garden Metro Station in Pune early on Sunday.
The accident took place around 4.30 am in the Bund Garden area, according to officials from Koregaon Park police station.
Senior police inspector Sangita Jadhav said, “A car hit a pillar of Bund Garden Metro station. As per the primary information, two persons in the car died while the third person sustained serious injuries.”

“The incident took place at 4.49 am. The CCTV footage of the area clearly shows that the car moving at a very high speed hit the pillar of the Metro station. There were three passengers in the car,” another official added.
CCTV footage of the incident, which has surfaced on social media, shows the black car speeding along the road before spinning and crashing forcefully into the metro pillar. Police believe the driver may have lost control, though investigations are ongoing.
Locals rushed to the scene and transported the three passengers to a nearby hospital. Two of them, identified as cousins Yash Prasad Bhandari (23), a resident of Thergaon, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and Ritvik alias Om Vinayak Bhandari (23), from Pimprigaon in Pune, were declared dead. The third passenger, Khushwant Tekwani, originally from Beed, was admitted to Sassoon Hospital in critical condition.
Police said the car was travelling along the Bund Garden stretch at a very high speed when the crash occurred. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
