The Special Court of Mumbai has given its verdict in the case of bomb blasts in Malegaon in 2008. All the 7 accused in the case have been acquitted. The accused included former BJP MP Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, Lieutenant Colonel Prasad Purohit, retired Major Ramesh Upadhyay, Sudhakar Chaturvedi, Ajay Rahirkar, Sudhakar Dhar Dwivedi and Sameer Kulkarni.

Since the decision came, the response of those who lost their families in this bomb blast has started coming out. Syed Azhar Syed Nisar’s father, one of the dead, told Aaj Tak that even after 17 years of the attack, we have not done justice. The verdict was pronounced bypassing all the evidence. We will go to the Supreme Court against this decision.

Daughter went to take Vada Pav, never returned

In this blast, Liaquat Sheikh lost his 10 -year -old daughter Farheen alias Shagufta Sheikh Liaquat. This girl went to Vada Pav at Bhikkhu Chowk, but did not return. When he came to know about the bomb blast, Liaquat Sheikh hoped that his daughter would return home. However, after a while, another message came that his daughter Farheen had died in it. As a father, he went to see his daughter with his wife, but was not allowed to meet him. Currently, Liaquat Sheikh has a small cute picture of this little girl. Liaquat hoped that he would get justice, but the court’s decision broke him.

He said- The decision that came is absolutely wrong. Hemant Karkare Saheb had caught many people, where did those people go. Did they do nothing? Those who were acquitted, if they did not break the bomb, then who blasted. We will go further to court. Hemant Karkare caught him only after getting the evidence but what happened now. My daughter went to Vada Pav to take her death in her blast. Who is responsible for his death? We want justice. My child gets justice.

NIA demanded hanging for the accused

Significantly, on September 29, 2008, there was a bomb blast that shook the city in Bhikkhu Chowk, Malegaon. The NIA later demanded the court to punish seven people, including suspected accused Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur. Therefore, everyone’s eyes were fixed on what decision the court gives. but now Mumbai A special court has pronounced the verdict in which all seven accused have been acquitted.

The dead included Farheen alias Shagufta Sheikh Liaquat, Sheikh Mushtaq Yusuf, Sheikh Rafiq Mustafa, Irfan Jiaullah Khan, Syed Azhar Syed Nisar and Aaron Shah Mohammad Shah.
