13 साल इंतजार के बाद अनुराग कश्यप की फिल्म मिली: एक्टर जसकरण सिंह गांधी बोले- सुनील पहलवान का किरदार मेरे लिए ही लिखा गया था

Actor Jaskaran Singh Gandhi has been seen in Anurag Kashyap’s film Nishanchi. In this film he has played the role of Sunil Pehalwan. Recently, he had a special conversation with Dainik Bhaskar, in which he told how he got this role and how he prepared for it.

How did you get the offer for Sniffer film?

This offer came in the same way as Same Bahadur had come. I was sitting at home one evening, when a message came containing information about the character, production house and director. When I read the name of the director Anurag Kashyap, I could not believe it. At first I thought it was an audition for an ad, but then when I read the entire message, I realized that this was a film role. At that time I told my wife, this role is mine only, because I have worked hard and waited for thirteen years to work with Anurag sir.

Then I spoke to casting director Gautam Kishan Chandani and his team, understood the character and gave the audition. There was a belief from within that this role was written for me only. I got the script and read it the very next day. He asked me how much time it would take to prepare. I said, once I read the script, I understand, because I have read and understood Anurag sir and his work very deeply, so I clearly knew what I had to do in this character.

How was your character in the film? Tell us something about that.

My character is Sunil Pehalwan, who is seen in the flashbacks of the film. In the story, Bablu and Dablu are two children, whose father was a great wrestler. Why and how he was murdered is shown in this flashback.

The roots of this incident are related to Sunil Pehalwan. Zabardas sets out in search of work and meets the wrong person, who convinces him that Sunil Pehalwan is a characterless person.

After this comes a wrestling scene, where my character is killed. This scene gives an important turning point in the story of the film and whatever happens next to Jabardasth is related to this incident. My role may be small, but it has a deep role in the story.

What hard work did you put in to play this character?

I used to wake up at five in the morning. Used to do cardio, running and cycling to reduce fat. But two-three months before the look test, my wife and I were on vacation, where my diet was not good. But when it came to the look test, I felt that this matter had gone wrong. Then I started working afresh. First of all I asked the makers when the shoot would start. He told me that there were still six-seven months left, so I felt relieved. After that, after coming home, I started paying full attention to my diet and fitness.

It was my dream to work with Anurag sir for 13 years. When it was finished, what was the experience like meeting him for the first time?

When I met Anurag sir, he was watching the reels. I kept looking at him, after a few seconds he made eye contact with me and asked how I was. He asked how are you? I said I am fine. Then he said that we will meet many more now. It was a great experience working with him. He is a very humble and easy going person.
